How Strong is Kurapika in Hunter X Hunter?

So how strong exactly is the current Kurapika?

I know he made a contract with his own soul or something like that. But if this Nen is so powerful, how come he is the only who used it in the series?

I also watched the previous version(1999), and there was no one who did this type of contract besides him.

Kurapica is pretty damn strong even without the chain jail or judgement. Time let's him compete with master class enhancer like Uvogin who can walk through bullets like superman and survive the destructiveness of his own attacks. Kurapika even tanked some of his attacks. His chains are fast enough to intercept bullets. Holy Chain + Emperor Time lets Kurapika heal wounds mid-combat almost instantly. The Dowsing Chain is powerful enough to smack around Uvogin, and it made an explosion that pushed back Uvogin in chapter 82. There's also the last finger ability that Kurapika has yet to reveal, which might be his ace for powerful non-Phantom Troupe related opponents. I wouldn't call Kurapika "featless" since he pretty much wrecked one of the most powerful Enhancers in the series.

Kurapica's scarlet eyes allow him to shift from becoming a conjurer to a specialist because if their unique nature. This ability emperor time will utilize all types of nen to 100%

Kurapika can use Judgement Chain on non-Troupe members, his eyes just have to be scarlet.

Strong enough to beat a fucking Phantom Troupe member, and Uvogin at that. Then there's his hax Emperor Time to consider. In terms of pure combat skill or ability among the main characters, Killua may be the best (considering he was already fighting and killing at the age of 6) but in terms of Nen? I'd say Kurapika beats any of the three MCs. That Emperor Time is broken / overpowered as fuck.

There's also to say he is the only one who had a reason to come up with a limitation, and arguably the strongest one at that.

Stronger than Gon and Killua [excluding Adult Gon] I think what Togashi is going for is that Kurapika is two steps ahead. They learned nen around the same time and yet Kurapika already took it so much further with having learning his Hatsu and developing many techniques within that Hatsu as well as other advanced Nen techniques such as In. He also had knowledge of Gyo too, he probably knew how to use it. Then Gon and Killua caught up and went even further... but now that I think we're seeing Kurapika again, I think he once again is a step or two ahead of the younger boys.

Well I mean he was almost an adult during the hunter exam, while Gon and Killua were still kids.

probably one of the strongest conjurers in the series his main weakness being that he has no offensive nen ability other than swinging around his chains although his chains were strong enough to scare uvogin and we still havent seen one of the chains abilities so really strong

I think Kurapika is very strong. With his restriction, he can't use 2 of his finger abilites. This is why people say, "So what can Kurapika do?" ... well he's still very skilled in Nen, and his specialist ability is one of the greatest in the series. I assume he has been training in the other categories after the 2 plus years since we've seen him, so he must be extremely good in certain categories by now. He may be limited, but that doesnt make him week. He is arguably the most haxed characters in this series because after such a strict perspective, he still can do so much against non spiders. His intellect in battle is pretty up there to the top tiers, he's intelligent over all, and his Emperor ability covers his restrictions. Kurapika is no joke.

Weaker than Killua (probably, unless he has some new abilities since Yorknew) Stronger than Gon and Leorio.

Kurapika has a Nen blade chain wrapped around his heart. Kurapika imposed a limitation onto this chain, it can only be used to deal with members of the Phantom Troupe. If this condition is violated, Kurapika will die. This condition (a Limitation, a Vow with a punishment) was needed in order to increase the strength of the ability.

Kurapika is the one of the only characters shown who uses such strong vows and limitations because of its risk. If he makes one wrong move and attacks somebody who isn't a spider, he will die. For most people, this is a risk that isn't worth taking because they could easily make a mistake - death does not leave any second chanced. Kurapika took on this risk because he was desperate for a way to beat the spiders. On top of this, only being able to use your Nen on a specific group of people, especially one that is only thirteen members, limits the use of your powers substantially. Kurapika's power was one developed exclusively for fighting the spiders but most other Nen users would want to be able to use their power more generally. However, other characters do use weaker versions of vows and limitations. For example, Bomber must tell all his victims about his powers before using it, which means he loses the advantage of anonymity.

It's his Emperor Time, It boosts his Nen Capacity to significant Power Levels. If you put things in perspective, only the Chain Jail is imposed on the spiders and not on everything else. Kurapika himself is above any human coz he's Kuruta and with his eyes he can do everything in a berserk like state.
